In 2012, the German carmaker Opel first showed its new subcompact SUV, which received the original name - Mokka. The car created a real sensation among the townsfolk and automotive journalists, who liked not only the appearance and rich equipment, but also the technical characteristics of the novelty. And now, 4 years later, within the framework of the Geneva Motor Show, an updated version of the Mokka SUV was presented, which received the prefix "X" in the name.

The car has got a more modern exterior, a noticeably transformed interior and a modernized technical component. Moreover, the manufacturer surprised potential buyers by offering a number of high-tech "chips" that were presented at Mokka for the first time. Unfortunately, in the near future the official appearance of the new Opel Mokka X in Russia is not planned, but the car can certainly be found at the "gray" dealers.

Opel Mokka X exterior

In comparison with the pre-styling Mokka, the new product has become more elegant and aggressive. For the most part, this is provided by a new front end, which received a predatory headlight optics, an updated false radiator grille and a redrawn front bumper, which houses an air intake and stylish fog lights. The embossed bonnet and a special plastic bumper strip, reminiscent of the off-road capabilities of the car, remained in place.

The crossover profile has remained practically unchanged and stands out with large wheel arches, muscular sidewalls and a window line that rises to the stern, which gives the car dynamism. As before, roof rails can be installed on the roof of the Opel Mokka, increasing the cargo capacity of the subcompact.

The rear of the car has got new rear dimensions and foglights, as well as a modified rear bumper.

The body color palette has been expanded with two new colors - Amber Orange and Absolute Red, and now it is presented in 10 colors, which opens up new possibilities for personalizing the appearance of the crossover. In addition, the design options for the alloy wheels have been updated, so that now the buyer can choose one of six options.

The external dimensions of the novelty are:

  • Length - 4278 mm;
  • Width - 1774 mm;
  • Height - 1658 mm;
  • Length between axles is equal to 2555 mm.

Regardless of the modification, the ground clearance is 180 mm, which is enough for confident movement both in the city and beyond. Of course, the Opel Mokka X does not claim to be a full-fledged SUV, but it is quite suitable for rare forays into nature.

The interior of the new Mokka X

The interior design of the crossover has changed beyond recognition - from now on there is a front dashboard made in a minimalist style, and the control of the main functions and systems of the car has been transferred to the touch display, which, depending on the configuration, can have a diagonal of 7 or 8 inches.

In front of the driver is the familiar multifunction steering wheel, as well as a new dashboard that provides quick and comfortable reading of indicators. In the central part of the dashboard, in addition to the touchscreen display of the multimedia and information complex, there is a separate climate control unit in the cabin, which is distinguished by simple and intuitive control. The quality of materials and fit of parts does not raise any questions - we have a typical "German" in front of us.

The ergonomics of the driver's workplace are traditionally at a height: the steering wheel is adjustable in several planes, and the driver's seat has a wide range of adjustments.

Like its predecessor, the new Mokka X is welcoming for both front and rear passengers.

The front seats have excellent ergonomics, and the second-row seats can easily accommodate three passengers.

Following the new body colors, the car received several new interior color options, which will certainly appeal to people who want to distinguish their car against the background of similar decisions of other car owners.

The trunk volume with 5 seats is 356 liters, and if you remove the rear row of seats, then the user can count on 1372 liters of usable space. Note that, despite the general trend, in the underground luggage compartment you can find a stowaway and a small repair kit.

In general, the interior of the updated Mokka X leaves an extremely positive impression, which is facilitated not only by the stylish front console and a wide variety of colors, but also by a rich list of standard and optional equipment, including a large panoramic sunroof.
