In June 2017, the Spanish brand Seat publicly unveiled its first front-wheel drive subcompact crossover, the Arona, named after one of the cities located on the island of Tenerife.

The official debut of the new Seat Arona took place at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. According to the manufacturer, the target audience of the novelty is young residents of megacities looking for a stylish and modern car with excellent driving characteristics.

Seat Arona 2018 received an attractive and modern appearance, a spacious interior, perfectly honed handling, as well as efficient and economical engines.

The appearance of the novelty is tailored in the "family" style of the Seat brand, which is characterized by the presence of a large number of sharp edges and chopped elements that give the car a more aggressive and dynamic look.

At the front, the car is represented by a predatory head optics (optionally full LED), attractive hexagonal grille and front bumper with huge air intake and a pair of round fog lamps.

Crossover profile flaunts spectacular sidewalls, circular wheel arches, as well as a window line that rises effectively towards the stern and a sloping roof line.

Didn't disappoint and body sirloinwith LED side lights, an embossed tailgate and a powerful rear bumper. It is also worth highlighting the presence of a special plastic body kit located around the entire perimeter of the car body.

Note that the novelty is 88 mm longer and 99 mm higher than the single-platform hatchback Seat Ibiza, which provides a more comfortable fit and passenger accommodation in the cabin.

The height of the ground clearance is modest by the standards of the class 155 mm, but this is more than enough for confident movement around the city.

Taking into account the youth orientation of the novelty, the manufacturer offered 10 body color options, and potential buyers can also choose one of three roof color options (black, gray or orange). In addition, customers are offered a wide selection of R16-18 rims with 8 different exterior design options.

Despite its relative simplicity, the interior design looks stylish and modern - a similar solution was used on the 5th generation Seat Ibiza single-platform.

The “pilot's” workplace is represented by a modern and attractive three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, as well as a laconic instrument cluster with a small window of the on-board computer (optionally fully digital).

The center console is slightly turned towards the driver, and also pleases with a multimedia center with an 8-inch touchscreen monitor and an exemplary interior climate control unit. When creating the interior, the manufacturer used exclusively high-quality finishing materials, and in the maximum performance offers customers a front dashboard partially trimmed with genuine leather.

The salon of the novelty, according to passport data, is designed to accommodate five passengers. The front seats have a well-developed profile, optimal filling in terms of hardness, as well as a sufficient number of adjustments. A person of any height and build can easily accommodate here, but with the back sofa everything is not so simple.

Despite the presence of a three-seater sofa, the third passenger will be constrained in the amount of free space, therefore, on long trips, it is preferable to accommodate two passengers. A massive central tunnel passes between the seats of the first row, on which the gearshift lever is located, a special platform for wireless charging of the smartphone and the engine start button.

Note that already in the base, the rear sofa can be folded in two uneven sections, forming a perfectly flat loading area.

Trunk volume in the classic seating arrangement is 400 liters, and with the rear sofa folded down, its volume more than triples. In the underground luggage compartment, the manufacturer has placed the "dock" and the minimum set of tools necessary on the road.

As a power unit, the manufacturer offers one of four engines - three petrol and one diesel, each of which complies with Euro-6 environmental standards:

The new Seat Arona is based on the modern MQB-AO bogie with a transversely mounted engine. An independent suspension with McPherson struts is installed on the front axle, and a semi-independent beam is installed on the rear axle (both in the first and second cases, the suspensions are equipped with steel springs and a system of telescopic shock absorbers).

The steering is supplemented by an electromechanical amplifier, and the deceleration system is represented by disc brakes: in front with a ventilation system and a diameter of 27.6 cm, and at the rear - without ventilation and with a diameter of 23 cm (in a drum-type base).

Separately, we note that in some markets the crossover will be offered with a 1-liter 90-horsepower engine running on natural gas. This version will be offered exclusively in tandem with a 5-speed manual transmission.
